Cogeneration
CHP (Combined Heat & Power) is a form of a decentralized energy
technology. CHP systems are typically
installed onsite, supplying customers with
heat and power directly at the point of
use, therefore helping avoid the
significant losses which occur in
transmitting electricity from large
centralized plants to the customer. CHP
systems can be employed over a wide range
of sizes, applications, fuels and
technologies. The heat produced during
power generation is recovered and can be
used to raise steam for a number of
industrial processes, to provide hot water
for heating, or with appropriate equipment
installed, cooling.
Because CHP systems
make extensive use of the heat produced
during the electricity generation process,
they can achieve overall efficiencies in
excess of 90% at the point of use.
Installing CHP is a way of
making savings when compared to
traditional systems. Due to the high fuel
efficiency of CHP plants, the carbon
dioxide emissions per kWh of electricity
or heat generated are relatively low. A
well-designed and operated CHP plant will
therefore improve energy efficiency and
significantly reduce carbon dioxide
emissions.
Traditionally
cogeneration plants in
North America have been
sized between 1 and 10MW
because smaller engines
could not provide the same
high efficiencies. 2G®’s
thermodynamically
optimized MAN® gas engines
with 2G-Drive® technology
"agenitor®"
are ideal for
combined heat and power
(CHP) installations. Now
customers can also
effectively utilize CHP’s
<500ekW for on-site power
generation, heat
production, cooling, and
for agricultural or
industrial heat recovery
applications in
decentralized locations.
The technology behind 2G®
gas engines and their
controls makes them highly
reliable, offering
superior efficiency with
low lifecycle costs. The
added benefits of these
2G-Drive® MAN® gas engines
over the conventional
standard MAN®, or any
other gas engine in a
similar size range,
include up to 25% higher
electrical efficiency,
lower maintenance cost,
and a longer life cycle.
We offer more value than
our competition by
focusing on advanced
technology improvements
“superior by design”, and
“system efficiency”,
rather than just packaging
a standard gas engine.
As leading manufacturer of
CHP cogeneration power
modules 2G®
is a trusted manufacturer with
satisfied customers all
over the world. We are
committed to provide the most
advanced, sound and proven
cogeneration CHP
technologies, as well as
professional product
support services to all
our customers in North-and
South America.
